1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

a) Tertiary qualification equivalent to NQF5 (City & Guilds Diploma in Culinary Arts and or Patisserie – theory and practical)
b) Conduct Outcomes based assessment (Assessor training)
2. JOB RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
a) 2 – 3 years solid experience in the Food Industry
b) 1 – 3 years solid lecturing experience
3. KNOWLEDGE
a) English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar
b) Knowledge on ways to inform students via written, oral and visual media
c) Solid knowledge on Health, Safety and Food Regulations and Practices
d) National and global culinary knowledge
e) Solid knowledge on Kitchen management
f) Solid knowledge on Culinary preparations
g) Solid knowledge on Cooking techniques
4. SKILLS
a) PC literacy (MS-Office, internet, emails)
b) Business communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and interviewing skills)
c) Social perceptiveness (being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do)
d) Learning strategies (selecting and using training / instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things)
e) Critical thinking (using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems)
f) Active learning (understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making)
g) Planning, administration and organising skills
5. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
a) Valid driver’s license
b) Physically and mentally fit
c) Learning potential
d) Multi-task orientated
